Spotify announced last week the 6% redundancy of its workforce, but despite that, it looks like the music streaming platform looks like it has reason to celebrate.
The CEO of Spotify, Daniel Ek, announced on his Twitter page that the platform now has 205 million Premium subscribers – which means that Spotify is also the first music streaming service to break the barrier of 200 million paying users.
Q4 '22 $ SPOT delivered great platform growth. We ended 2022 strongly despite a challenging year. Expect us to move faster with more intensity of effort, driving even greater efficiency in 2023. pic.twitter.com/rII7hHwRy1

BUT: Spotify wants to get closer to content creators
This number was reached at the end of 2022 and concerns a 14% increase in the number of subscribers compared to the previous year. In addition, the executive also noted that Spotify now has 489 million active monthly users (which includes both subscribers and users of the free version).
