Spanish composer and musicologist David López Sáez recovered and digitized more than 640 traditional songs from the cultural collection of the province of Lunda-North, in a project about the valorization of national musical heritage.

As revealed by the New Journal, the Spaniard also created music schools and local folklore instruments, work that can be seen, until March 19, at the Centro Cultural Camões, in Luanda.

Entitled “Thambwé: Recovery, Valorization and Dissemination of the Cokwe Musical Heritage”, the digitalization of the Phonographic Fund of the Dundo Regional Museum was one of the results of the work carried out in the Lunda-Norte region, which highlighted the importance of research for the Angolan culture.

“The objectives of the project are the recovery, transmission and dissemination of the Cokwe musical heritage. We have an exhibition here that explains everything. Among the results we achieved, we highlight the digitization of the Phonographic Fund of the Dundo Regional Museum”, said Sáez.

David López Sáez highlighted that he was encouraged to embrace the technological project by the director of the Orquestra Angolana Kapossoca, where he collaborates, and is happy with the project's results, despite the difficulties of transport to the villages.
