Angolan startups can now apply for the 3rd edition of the Ideas, Inventions and Innovation Fair

Applications are open for the eighth national conference on Science and Technology (CNCT) and for the third Fair of Ideas, Innovations, Innovation and Technology-Based Entrepreneurship (FIEbat), according to a note that reached the editorial office of MenosFios.

According to a note from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESCTI), the CNCT will take place from November 30 to December 1, simultaneously with the 3rd Edition of FIEBaT, at the National Archive of Angola.

Both events aim to “every two years, distinguish university students, startups, incubators of technology-based companies, researchers, FabLab, creators/innovators and other SNCTI actors who have distinguished themselves for their science, technology and innovation activity, publicize and reward products or innovative processes generated in Angola at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Scientific Research and Development II&D Institutions or in collaboration with other actors in the ecosystem, present new technological ideas to the general public, resulting from the creative potential of Angolans“, can be read in the statement.

Registration for the FIEBaT is open until the 10th of October and applications must be submitted by email: [email protected]/ or via the portal www.ciencia.ao.

BUT: Angolan startups should have more space in the national economy

Eligible, as exhibitors, are actors linked to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Research and Development (R&D), technology-based company incubators, scientific research support laboratories, creators/innovators whose projects are linked/collaborated with HEIs or R&D. Participation can be individual or as a team, with no more than three elements.

The projects that will be presented at the fair will be evaluated by a jury committee, made up of the president, two university professors, representatives of higher education institutions, representatives of companies.

The jury commission will evaluate and select the best works to award, as well as announce the classification of the winners. Prizes will be awarded in the five categories created, namely, ideas, inventions, technology transfer, innovation and entrepreneurship.

"Works presented at fairs or similar events are not eligible for awards.“, but the creators of works already published can, exceptionally, expose them again, not qualifying for prizes.

CNCT and FIEbat are activities aimed at teachers and researchers from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Research & Development Institutions (II&D), inventors and creators, exhibitors and other interested professionals, as well as representatives of public and private companies that are authors of published scientific works or projects of ideas, inventions or prototypes that are institutionally linked to HEIs or II&D.
