TAAG will reinforce fleet with six Airbus A220-300

The national air carrier TAAG will have six Airbus aircraft, model A220-300, to reinforce its fleet and operational capacity on medium-haul routes.

Through a leasing contract – ALC (Air Lease Corporation), the Angolan company informs that the six aircraft will join its fleet in 2023, and will stay until 2024, with five expected to arrive in the 1st half of the year. next year, thus allowing greater regional operability at the same time as the opening of Luanda's new airport, Agostinho Neto, scheduled to open in 2024.

TAAG's official note on the deal does not show details about it, as well as the investment of the Angolan State in this operation, even though it holds 100% of the company's capital.

Regarding the A220-300 models, it should be noted that they are very technological and innovative devices, with emphasis on savings in fuel costs of around 30%, compared to a Boeing 737, and where they will be piloted by Angolans and their serviced in Paris, France.

It should be noted that TAAG's current fleet comprises six Dash 8-Q400s, seven Boeing 737-700s, three Boeing 777-200s and five Boeing 777-300s.
