4G Internet network coverage rate in Angola is 34%

It took place last Friday, September 15th at the Intercontinental hotel, the VIth Telecom Forum organized by Jornal Expansão, with the theme: “The Challenges of Infrastructures, Financing and New Digital Concepts”, where aspects such as updating the prices of mobile phone operators, number of mobile phone subscribers, etc. were addressed.

On the most varied topics that were covered, Matias Borges (National Director of Telecommunications and Information Technologies of Angola), said during the event that Angola wants to achieve an 85% coverage rate of the 4G internet network by 2027.

The person in charge who addressed the topic “The existing infrastructure network in the country and its future development” stated that the country has made great progress in terms of telecommunications, but still faces problems and many challenges, ensuring that, “We need to reform the existing sections that are having problems and also build new sections”.

Currently the 4G coverage rate is 34% and the aim is to reach 48% by the end of this year. The 3G network has a coverage rate of around 90% while the 5G network is expected to have a coverage rate of 2% by December 2023, according to figures from the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication.
