A group of technicians assigned to the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INAMET) and the National Air Navigation Company (ENNA) recently received training on the Integrated System for Meteorological Information, thus becoming the second group of Angolan specialists trained at the facilities of the Meteorological Administration of China (CMA) within the scope of the project of the New Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN).

According to what was revealed, the training cycle aimed to provide global forecasts of aeronautical meteorology and information on meteorological conditions through a complete, integrated and uniform information network, with the maximum advantage of new technologies.

National technicians were also trained in the Area Forecast System, namely the use of Satellite Images that serve to increase the accuracy of meteorological forecasts at a local level, allowing meteorologists to detect and study smaller scale weather and climate events from data from several satellites.

BUT: INAMET will benefit from technological modernization to anticipate occurrences

The New Luanda International Airport, located in the commune of Bom Jesus, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, in Luanda, will cover an area of 1.324 hectares and is designed to receive 15 million passengers/year after completion.

The project takes the form of an airport city, with modern buildings and complementary services, in a perimeter where buildings, gardens and state-of-the-art equipment coexist.

Specifically, the project encompasses, in its 75 square kilometers of area, the main structure of the airport, a separate protocol terminal, another cargo terminal, two fire departments, a hotel with 53 rooms, integrated traffic control buildings, air traffic control and a fueling station.
