Do you have a Startup? Google For Startup Black Founders Fund is open for applications

Google recently announced that applications for the African continent of the 2nd edition of the Google For Startup Black Founders Fund.

After a highly successful 1st edition, the technology company once again showed its commitment to the African digital ecosystem, where this 2022 edition will have additional funding of one million dollars and support for more than 10 “founders”.

With these numbers, Google thus makes a commitment to provide more than 4 million dollars to 60 startups across Africa.

The Google For Startup Black Founders Fund is open to any and all startups that meet the eligibility criteria in all African countries, but primarily in Botswana, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Selected startups will receive an economic incentive of between $50.000 to $100.000, plus $200.000 per startup on Google Cloud, training support and access to a network of mentors to help address each startup's unique challenges. Applications will close on May 31, 2022 and winners will be announced on July 29, 2022.

Eligibility Criteria:
early stage startups with black funders or multiple founding teams,
startups that are benefiting the black community,
operating and headquartered in Africa,
startups with a diverse founding team with at least one black founding member;
those who have a legal presence on the continent and build technological solutions for Africa and the global market;
those that have the growth potential to raise more funding and create jobs.

The Google For Startup Black Founders Fund was launched in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020 and as part of Google's commitments to racial equality. The initiative is a pledge to drive economic opportunity for black entrepreneurs. The BFF supports startups in the region in the form of cashless assistance that helps them take care of immediate needs such as paying staff, funding inventory and maintaining software licenses.
