UNITEL issues alert against attempted fraud and asks for attention from customers

The mobile phone company Unitel, through an official communiqué, warns all its customers, as well as Angolan civil society, against a fraud whereby messages are being disseminated associating the operator with an online raffle.

In the said note, which MenosFios had access to, the company says that this draw is not true, and that this is a clear attempt at fraud, and where it advises all its users to ignore the same message.

According to the Angolan operator, it says that this practice of fraud has been very recurrent and where it advises the following to all its customers.

  • Pay attention to calls and SMS from unknown numbers;
  • Do not share personal data information with unknown persons and/or by telephone (name, address, bank details, place of work);
  • Refuse offers of prizes or sharing of personal data, in exchange for monetary values;
  • Ignore advertising on Social Media about prizes or offers;
  • Report any suspicious call or contact regarding this matter to the Police;
  • Go to the UNITEL website: www.unitel.ao and check the offer of products and services:
  • Contact the Call Center UNITEL: 19192, reporting the situation. The call is free of charge.

Finally, in the same statement, UNITEL reaffirms its commitment to providing an excellent service, through the adoption of control and security measures, which guarantee the protection of all its Customers.
