Wimbart Office Hours: Startups from Africa invited to participate in the 4th edition of the mentoring program

A Wimbart, a public relations agency specializing in Africa and emerging markets, recently launched its fourth edition of Wimbart Office Hours, a public relations mentorship and business support program designed to equip early-stage African start-ups with know-how e insights from the media.

This edition of the Office Hours program will be supported by Wimbart's Long-Term Employee Platform and will be accompanied by TechCabal delivering keynote talks, as well as leading speakers from the TLP Advisory, Norebase and Wowzi ecosystem.

Wimbart Office Hours is a free mentoring program targeted at early stage startups focusing on companies that have technology solutions for Africans on the continent or in the diaspora and is structured to provide guidance, insight and tools on a range of topics from developing successful communications plans to building relationships with journalists, communicating with investors and how to broaden press coverage.

To date, over 70 start-ups have gone through the programme, from over 10 countries and Wimbart Office Hours alumni include Healthtracka, Tix Africa, Artdey, Nguvu Health, Fashtracker and Vybe, among others.

BUT: Five African Startups Selected for AlphaCode's Mentoring Program

Applications to be part of this 4th edition of the program are now open and close on Friday, July 22, 2022. Eligible startups must:

  • Be located or provide services in Africa
  • Have less than two years in the business market
  • Have a minimum viable product available (MVP)
  • Have secured investment in a seed level phase

The startups chosen for the program will receive three training sessions for all-cohort vs one-one keynote, led by Wimbart [an introduction to PR & Communications], the Ventures Platform [How to communicate with VCs] and TechCabal [How to communicate and build relationships with the media] before being joined by senior RELATIONS professionals from the Wimbart team who will conduct three one-on-one mentoring sessions over a period of 8 weeks.

In addition, the program will feature leading speakers in investment strategy, legal social space and brand/consumer, with Odunoluwa Longe from TLP Advisory, Garth Manthe from Wowzi and Adetola Onayemi from Norebase.
