Everyone was waiting for big announcements at the WWDC 2017 (Worldwide Developers Conference), Apple's developer conference.

MacOS High Sierra

One of the main revelations was made yesterday, 05/06, by Craig Federighi, responsible for Apple's software development, the new MacOS was baptized as "High Sierra". This is an unusual name for the Mac operating system, which indicates that this will be more of a “major upgrade” than a new operating system.

Apple guarantees: Safari continues to be the fastest browser on the market and very, very safe. An interesting detail, the new version of Safari will block the automatic playback of videos (unless the user decides otherwise). Another novelty is that the browser will have a technology designed to reinforce the user's privacy, hiding the browsing data so that the user does not receive a large number of contextual advertisements.

The photo application will also have new editing and organization tools, it will import all the photos in a chronological way and everything will be synchronized between the various Apple devices - a way to ensure that the image library is available throughout the ecosystem.

The Mac will now use the brand's file system, Apple File System. This will entail access to faster file transfers. For video, the supported codec from scratch is H.265 which will allow for optimal video playback in Ultra High Definition, for example.

Another novelty is that Apple is working with Valve to bring the Steam gaming platform SDK to the Mac. To ensure good performance, Apple announced a new version of the Metal platform (technology for handling graphics that Apple designed and which supports the joint work of the processor and the graphics processor), Metal 2, which will deal more quickly with games and has support for Virtual Reality experiences and content.

Availability

The High Sierra version will have a public beta at the end of the month, while the final version will be available after the summer as an update for all Mac computers.
