Yango and Ministry of Transport address sector regulation and security in app-based transport services

On September 13th, the Minister of Transport, Ricardo d'Abreu, recognized Yango's valuable contributions to the creation of the future regulations for transport services via app, in a meeting that also included officials from the National Land Transport Agency ( ANTT).

At the meeting, the Yango delegation presented the features that guarantee the safety of passengers and drivers when traveling via the app, recognizing the active role of the taxi app in creating a specific legal framework for so-called app transport, a process currently underway.

Since the beginning of activities in Angola, on April 28, 2022, Yango has made itself available to national authorities to support the creation of legislation that regulates this sector, taking into account the experience acquired in the 20 countries where it operates across the country. world.

The creation of this specific regulation will allow us to concretely address outstanding issues, such as the issuance and acquisition of operating licenses, a point that Yango is reviewing directly with ANTT, as indicated by the Ministry of Transport.

At the meeting, the Yango delegation also informed the authorities about the business plan and presented in detail all the application's features that guarantee the safety of rides, both for passengers and drivers. Among these, Yango highlighted the agreement with the Integrated Public Security Center (CISP), a body to which passengers have direct access by pressing the emergency button available in the application.

According to Ivan Mugimbo, Director of Yango in Angola, “the meeting with His Excellency Minister and the ANTT authorities was very productive and inspiring". "In addition to reiterating our availability and interest in participating in the construction of a regulatory framework for the sector, let us also commit to increasingly strengthening security features, as we have been doing permanently, in fact, since last year, when we began operations in Luanda."

At the same time, he continued, “at the meeting, Yango presented the business model in detail and how it is impacting the creation and development of private transport companies. Yango supports partner companies in regularizing with official entities, before starting operations, and is highly demanding regarding the formalization of the activity of the thousands of drivers who work with the application in Luanda."

"Finally, we once again made available to the Minister of Transport all our potential and technological knowledge to help develop local transport infrastructure and the mobility of Angolans”, indicated Ivan Mugimbo.

The meeting with minister Ricardo Viegas d'Abreu took place one day after a meeting of the Yango delegation at the Provincial Government of Luanda, with His Excellency Vice-Governor for the Economic Sector, Dr. Gilson dos Santos Antunes Carmelino and, with the presence of the Provincial Director of Traffic, Traffic and Mobility of the Provincial Government of Luanda, Mr. Filipe Cumandala, where the Deputy Governor's Advisors were also present.

Among other points, issues related to the operational logistics of drivers who work with the Yango application were also addressed, with the aim of improving mobility in the capital, and also the possibility of sponsorship from Yango for special education schools in Luanda, which received a visit from the Yango delegation.
