A General Tax Administration (AGT) now has a new Automated Customs Data System (Asycuda World, AW), which aims to provide a better working environment and aid in cooperation between customs and national authorities, as well as promoting international harmonization and reducing the burden imposed on operators commercials.

According to a note in a report issued by the Board of Directors of AGT, this innovation by the public institution is part of the Expansion and Modernization Program for Customs in Angola (PEMA), also showing that it is committed to strengthening cooperation ties with all the players in the Foreign Trade chain, in order to make Angola a market with increasing levels of credibility.

This new procedure, stresses the official statement, is focused on encouraging internal and external investment, which involves modernizing and reducing bureaucracy in customs processes, as well as the necessary response to the competition inherent in the opening of the African Free Trade Zone.

It should also be informed that the AGT strategy with a view to facilitating trade and simplifying the process of importing and exporting goods “was the introduction of AW in the management of the entire process of customs clearance of goods, through which the operation became quick and automated, allowing the other players in the international trade chain to fill in the Single Document (DU) and enter the data of the subject goods to customs treatment".

Among the AGT communication facilitation mechanisms, the Taxpayer Support Center, Asycuda World, Taxpayer Portal, AGT Mobile, implementation of RUPE 20 Digits and Expedient Service stand out.

"To assist in the implementation of the role of 'collector' of revenues, facilitator of trade and protector of society, this Administration is guided by the use of WCO and WTO tools and instruments, including the Revised Kyoto Convention”, informs the report.
