The German Government expressed its interest in placing Angola on the world map of green hydrogen and renewable energies, within the framework of the energy transition strategy and within the scope of a German-Angolan partnership for energy, which enshrines an overview of perspectives on the green hydrogen and its implications for global energy trade.

According to Vandré Spellmeier, delegate for the German Economy in Angola (AHK) and head of the German-Angolan Hydrogen Office – H2 Diplo, who was speaking at the 1st Symposium on Green Hydrogen, held last week in Luanda, the plan goes through “to place Angola on the world map of green hydrogen, which is our objective and our goal".

According to what was revealed at the event, support from that European country is expected to be implemented with the implementation of the Global Hydrogen Diplomacy program, currently known as “H2 Diploma”, an initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which already has six Hydrogen offices installed around the world.

BUT: European businessmen express their desire to invest in green hydrogen in Angola

Therefore, Germany, through its Economics Delegation in Angola, wants to show international investors its potential in this yet unexplored segment, with a current energy matrix of 62% of clean energy.

"We need to hold more events like this and others in the coming months, with the aim of showing foreign investors that Angola deserves to be on this world map”, emphasized Vandré Spellmeier.

This 1st Symposium on Green Hydrogen, in addition to the presence of the German-Angolan Hydrogen Office – H2 Diplo, also featured high-profile figures, such as the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior, and the German ambassador in Angola, Oliver Rentschler, an event that proved that the two countries can interact as exporters of renewable fuels.

It should also be noted that, like other countries, Angola has already signaled that it is working on its renewable energy strategy and, with the H2 Diplo, Germany proposes to support the Government in defining the plan for its environment.
