Angola has created several investments in information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, allowing the creation of mobile wallets, which enable deposits, consultations and withdrawals, instant transfer of values and purchase of various products via telephone.

This opinion was defended by the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Technologies, Pascoal Alé Borges, speaking at the opening of the “5ª Digital Transformation Conference“, emphasizing that technological innovation services in the financial area make it possible to reduce the use of physical currency.

The director highlighted that technological innovation services also allow the extension of operations and commerce throughout the country in places where traditional banking services do not exist.

BUT: National banks must increase financial digitalization capabilities, warns BNA

Pascoal Borges also highlighted that the exponential growth of ICTs in the sector allowed the adoption of capillarity (movement or dispersion) of telecommunications networks and mobile services, by electronic communications operators and fintechs.

The adoption of capillarity of telecommunications networks and mobile services by operators, maintained the Secretary of State, served to establish and create business opportunities, thus generating new service jobs.

ICTs, as an instrument for promoting Electronic Government and the Information and Knowledge Society, also impose a new attitude in the close relationship between the Executive and citizens.
