Angola will soon have a Computer Incident Response and Treatment Study Center (CERT), according to National Director of Cybersecurity of the Ministry of Telecommunications Information and Social Communication Technologies (Minttics) Hediantro Wilson Mena.

According to Hediantro Wilson Mena, CERT will guarantee the security and invulnerability of the entrepreneur's data and will have the mission of reporting all attacks on companies and individuals. And he also defended the need for Angola to adhere to the Budapest convention framed in the fight against computer crimes.

Angola's accession to the convention, he argued, will facilitate international cooperation with other countries. "By adhering to the Convention, Angola will cooperate internationally with harmonized legislation, as it is essential for crimes to not be immune". He added that there is no typification related to cyber crimes in the legal-penal system, despite the existence of legislation that allows to typify some illegal conduct inherent to these criminal practices. "This is another task to be won", he concluded.

In order to reduce cyber crimes in the economy in the future, a Strategy in the sector will soon be elaborated, which will focus on deepening the security of networks as a way of guaranteeing the protection and defense of critical infrastructures and vital information services, and promoting free use. , safe and efficient cyberspace by public, private and citizen companies.

Wilson Mena also argues that cybersecurity must involve the protection of so-called critical infrastructures, because according to him, the implementation of security measures for ICT infrastructure is done independently. On the other hand, he warned that to reduce the assaults on banks, companies, and mobile phones, the “password” must be changed regularly.

“It is imperative to adopt a National Cybersecurity Strategy for Angola, which would establish its vision and strategic objectives in relation to Cybersecurity. The strategy should provide details on the implementation framework ”.

The fight against cybercrime, protection of cyberspace and infrastructure, education, awareness and prevention, cooperation and the elaboration of a National Cybersecurity Strategy that must be faced with a political, social, economic, management, police problem are part of the program to implement, said Hediantro Wilson Mena.
