A jury composed of 25 independent members from the areas of economics, research, development, medicine and technology evaluated each of the 700 inventions exposed in the International Fair of Ideas, Inventions and New Products (IENA) 2015. 65 gold medals, 86 silver medals and 55 bronze medals were awarded. The 67th of the Fair of Ideas, Innovation and New Products (IENA) 2015, took place from 29 October to 1 November this year. Angola had 10 inventors and 19 projects.

Angola was well represented, having obtained the following medals:

Gold:

  • The Lueji A'Nkonda University School of Medicine, “The snake bite protection strategy” won the first gold medal.
  • António Manuel Kawele, with its recycling project called "From garbage to luxury", where with the remains of materials collected from garbage, it transforms into works of art such as folders, flip flops, necklaces, bracelets, among other items.

Silver:

  • Agostinho Neto University (UAN) with the game Palanquinha, a game that, besides the fun, illustrates the historical and tourist points of Angola
  • Hélder Silva with the project aviation accident control system.

Bronze:

  • Inacio Augusto Simão won two bronze medals, with the projects "Multifunctional Bicycle", "multifunctional device for the physically, visually impaired and sick"
  • Ricardo Antunes Figueiredo, with the project “the device to prevent oil spills in the oceans”
  • Agostinho Neto University with the project “Integrated System of Medical Emergencies of Angola (SIEMA)”
  • Hélder Silva with the project system of protection of the teeth during the radiotherapy.

There is a special prize, awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, having selected two projects in the youth category with a crystal award “science and technology”, an innovative system for hand washing and another for public health and in the adult category it was awarded with a statue of the fisherman an electric energy production system using kinetic theories.

The organization of the event already announced that this year was a great success. It is quite likely that next year, in October, Angola will return to the site to compete for more medals.

The big question now is to pass these ideas on to the production and industrialization phase, certainly the Ministry of Science and Technology is aware of this ...
