A Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), publicly responded to criticism from developers who accused the company of wanting to ban their apps from the App Store, allegedly for not releasing frequent updates.

"As part of the App Store Improvements process, developers of apps that have not been updated within the last three years and have failed to meet the minimum download threshold – meaning that the app was not downloaded at all or very few times during a 12-year release period – received an email notifying them that their apps have been identified for possible removal from the App Store”, can be read in Apple's official note.

BUT: Apple will remove outdated apps from the App Store

The biggest problem pointed out with this Apple policy is the fact that many games are affected, which according to the developers do not need to be updated as often. Still, Apple decided to give 90 days (instead of the previous 30) for these apps to be updated before being removed from the virtual store.
