The digitalization of all national courts has been one of the main challenges, according to the president of the Supreme Court and the Superior Council of the Judiciary, Joel Leonardo.

Speaking in a major interview with Jornal de Angola, alluding to the opening of the Judicial Year 2024, the judge states that “One of our main challenges today is procedural dematerialization, that is, the digitalization of all Courts, which will seriously contribute to the issue of procedural speed".

"In the coming years, we are excited by the desire to create, in Angola, a technologically robust, versatile and efficient judicial system that achieves the realization of law and justice for all citizens, in a rapid and equitable manner, with highly qualified human resources in sufficient number, with very modern technical and technological resources capable of better and proactive procedural dynamics and implementing the constitutional premise of our autonomy and financial and patrimonial independence, in the interest of the Rule of Law and Democracy", said.

BUT: Court of Auditors will focus on the technological modernization of the institution

Also speaking at the opening session were the Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Groz, and the president of the Angolan Bar Association (OAA), José Domingos, whose communications also dealt, among others, with issues linked to technological reinforcement and modernization of justice institutions, improvement of working and social conditions of the class.

According to Pitta Groz, financial autonomy and the modernization of judicial activity, reflected in the motto of the judicial year now open, are imperative conditions for the success of the mission of the State's judicial and judicial bodies.

For the prosecutor, modernizing judicial activity means adjusting it to current social demands, which presupposes, from the outset, ensuring harmonious action by judicial and judicial bodies, in order to achieve the full realization of justice.

"Strict respect for the different roles that the law confers on the judicial authorities that intervene in the criminal process is an unavoidable condition for achieving its ultimate purpose."He said.
