The National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE) reported that it has already resolved the “computer anomaly” that prevented Pre-Paid energy sales in in-person and non-in-person channels in province of Benguela, announced the head of department of that company, Celestino Malungo.

According to Celestino Malungo, the recovery of ENDE's billing has already begun and has already resolved the anomaly that did not allow customers to have access to purchasing electricity through in-person and non-in-person channels.

In recent weeks, the public company interrupted Prepaid energy sales in in-person and non-in-person channels throughout the national territory, “computer anomaly” that was treated cyber attack claimed by BlackCat Ransomware Group via Twitter, where she declares herself responsible for what happened to ENDE.

BlackCat hackers use encryption techniques similar to other types of ransomware, but also add some additional security measures to make it difficult to decrypt files if they are encrypted. This includes using two different encryption algorithms and ensuring that the decryption key is never stored on the same drive as the encrypted files.

BlackCat's creators appear to target companies and organizations rather than individuals, which makes sense since these types of organizations tend to be more willing to pay the ransom than individuals would be.

BlackCat is a group of cybercriminals that targets companies to steal their intellectual property and personal information. It is known for targeting businesses in the construction and engineering sectors, retail, transport, commercial services, insurance, etc.
