The studies done by Lenovo reveal that, technology has the power to influence our values, makes us more understanding, tolerant, charitable and open-minded - according to their most recent research.
Lenovo interviewed more than 15.000 people from the US, Mexico, Brazil, China, India, Japan, the UK, Germany, France and Italy and found that nine out of ten respondents (89%) think technology plays an important role in their business. business and everyday lives. Meanwhile, 84% said technology improves their lives.
And while we know that technology affects our lives, it helps us do our daily tasks - like email, streaming and so on, research has found that in many cases, technology is really having a strong impact on our human values.
For example, 38% of global respondents believe that smart devices such as PCs, tablets and smartphones are making people more open and tolerant. Meanwhile, more than a third (35%) believe that technology is making us more understanding and empathetic.
Psychologist Jocelyn Brewer says, “Technology is often accused of eroding empathy, the innate ability that most humans are born with to identify and understand each other's emotions and experiences. However, when we take advantage of technological advances for positive purposes, it can help to promote richer experiences that develop empathic concerns and lead people to act for causes that are important to them. ”
The worldwide nature of this research has meant that interesting differences can be found all over the world. In particular, Brazil, Russia, India and China seem to have more faith in technology's ability to positively impact our values. For example, 90% of respondents in China think that virtual reality has the ability to increase human understanding, while this number is 88% in India and 81% in Brazil.
