O Facebook faces a crisis that is increasingly affecting not only its profits but also its image from security to keeping its users' data to false news and polarization.

The social network that has 25% of the world population to use its tool, goes through a great crisis of image. Sharing false news, scandals involving Russian agents in the US election through the social network have made public charging for a regulation of the platform increase.

The American consultancy CB Insights, last year did a survey with a simple question: she wanted to know which technology company will be viewed negatively by society ten years from now. Around 58% of the 4.200 people heard pointed out Facebook in the leadership of this nice little ranking. Following are Amazon (11%), Google (4%), Apple (3%), and Microsoft (2%). The remaining 22% stated that all will be positively recognized.

Before the latest crisis, Mark Zuckerberg said that: Facebook is a social platform, a tool, not a media. Therefore, for him, much of the control responsibilities he attributes to the company is not fair.

The main question is how far will Facebook be able to survive with this crisis it faces? Cases of social networks that have lived the apogee and the fall in a few years are recurrent. MySpace or Orkut, for example.

Meanwhile, two social networks are gaining more users and brands: YouTube e Instagram, controlled by Google and Facebook, respectively. Nowadays, younger generations don't see much advantage in having Facebook accounts. They are preferring faster and more interactive communications, which are possible on Instagram itself, as well as the Snapchat.

It is necessary to emphasize, however, that Facebook was a social network that, despite several defects, revolutionized the way we communicate. Its servers have given space for more than 2,1 billion people to express themselves and share various subjects. Historical political movements have emerged through communities, such as the Arab Spring, which overthrew several regimes in Africa and the Middle East.
