A group of students from the Energy and Electrical Installations course at the Polytechnic Institute of Humpata created a prototype of an electric motorbike that they consider “environmentally friendly”.

According to Faustino Jorge, group coordinator, the invention caught the attention of countless people and was one of the successes of a local Talent Fair.

"We decided to develop an ecological motorbike, with a gross weight of 80 kilograms, that does not contribute to environmental pollution", said.

The person responsible informs that the motorcycle is designed to travel, initially, 40 kilometers per hour.

"Research continues to ensure that the maximum speed to be reached is 120 kilometers per hour, to make journeys less time-consuming and less tiring for future users.”, he stressed.

The research, projection of the motor vehicle design, acquisition of parts and other necessary materials, he explained, took three months.

"We are pleased to have finished the course with the creation of a fully electric motorbike prototype”, he said.

Due to the lack of electronic materials in the country's various markets to assemble the electric motorbike, he said, they had to resort, as an alternative, to the use of recyclable materials and certain equipment, with emphasis on the alternator of several vehicles, with which they built the new engine. , powered by solar energy.

The group coordinator also added that only local material was used in the design of the prototype. The acquisition of certain pieces, he said, was made in formal and informal markets and cost 400.000 kwanzas.

"The costs were borne only by the students involved in the project".

With that amount, he highlighted, they were able to purchase enough material to make the lighting and braking systems, as well as other basic components for controlling conduction, electrical current and speed.
