On the last day of the WebSummit, which took place at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, from the 13th to the 16th of November, participants had the chance to follow the grand final of the “PITCH” Startups competition. A Inspire, a Brazilian startup that offers legal solutions, took home the grand prize.
What does In do?spyre?
The Startup founded in Brazil, aims to simplify and improve the practice of law, to this end it developed a collaborative platform with artificial intelligence enabling research on jurisprudence.
Coming from São Paulo for the competition, the co-founder of Inspira, Henrique Ferreira praised the Web Summit considering it a “spectacular event”, stating that the victory is huge for his company's plans. Having previously participated in the Web Summit as a participant, Henrique returned this year with a startup ALPHA with his three co-founders, reaching the final and taking the title.
How was the competition?
105 of the 2.608 participating startups qualified for the three-day competition and made their presentations to the jury members. Besides the Inspire (Legaltech), the other two winning Startups were Cognimate (healthtech) based in Cyprus, and Kinderpedia, Romanian childcare solutions company.
The three finalists were presented to a panel of judges made up of Cristina Fonseca, managing partner of Indico Capital Partners
Cristina Fonseca, the CTO of Thoughtworks, Rebecca Parsons, and the co-founder and CEO of Yuno, Juan Pablo Ortega – all with a lot of experience in the world of investments and startups.
The Portuguese Startup Etihack won the award for most promising startup at the Road 2 Web Summit initiative, while Active was distinguished in the social impact and inclusion category and the Jupiter App for its performance.
Unlike previous years, this year the winning startup did not receive a monetary prize, but will receive support from the organization to showcase the startup's brand at other events.
