More than 2000 inhabitants of the village of Canchoere, in the town of Moatize, in the District of the same name, Tete province, now have access to a mobile phone station.

In effect, the population of this region no longer travels long distances to the district headquarters in order to communicate via cell phone, access mobile data, as well as carry out electronic transactions.

The inauguration of the station was carried out by the Provincial Director of Transport and Communications, Colen Pita, who classified the arrival of the mobile network as timely, as the village's residents can now easily talk to their families.

“This is an advance that will improve the quality of life of the population of Canchoere, as they can now take advantage of services such as electronic transactions, making bank transfers, as well as making payments and purchases through mobile wallets,” he said.

He highlighted, however, that there are 13 other locations that deserve special attention in the expansion of the mobile network in Tete, namely, the administrative posts of Chintolo, in the district of Cahora Bassa, Chipembere, in Changara, Kassuende, Chipera, in Marávia, among others.

Vodacom's central regional executive director, Maria Lisathi, said that around six million meticais were invested in installing the infrastructure and by the end of this year the aim is to inaugurate six stations that are in the test phase in this region.

He acknowledged that this station will not completely resolve the coverage situation in this part of the country, but argued that it represents a significant contribution towards the development of Mozambique, connecting people.
