A young Guinean innovator created the only “Uber service” in Bissau, transporting children to school, employees to work and people who go to clubs at night.

Popularly known as Chita Indjai, the 35-year-old Guinean transports people in a small green car, in a process that first involves a telephone contact and then a meeting to agree on prices and the route. .

People come to Chita Indjai through information from other customers, but also through social media.

When he doesn't have races to do, Chita works at a hotel in the center of Bissau, where he also ends up meeting people who he transports to the airport, namely on early morning flights.

At dawn, Chita also gets out of bed to pick people up at the door of clubs or take them to those fun places, as long as there is a commitment that each person who goes in his small car pays the equivalent of 10 euros.

Just in a race from the disco to people's homes Chita earns 40 euros.

The owner of the only “Uber service” in Bissau also transports children from home to school and employees to their workplaces.

With the transport of children, Chita prefers to look more closely at the relationship with the parents when it comes to setting the amount to be charged for the service, which is paid at the end of the month.

BUT: Transportation application aimed at women is launched in Luanda

Punctuality and the safety of the children are factors that Chita considers to be fundamental when settling the contract.

It all started during the confinement due to the covid-19 pandemic in which public transport stopped circulating in Bissau, by order of the Government.

Chita, whose vehicle had a free-pass license, gave lifts to “the women” he found on the road in an attempt to reach other areas of the city of Bissau.

A friend and a relative who live in Europe came to Bissau to spend their holidays at that time of the pandemic and Chita Indjai's car was the means of travel. Chita rode with both of them, for free.

“Then I started thinking why not charge for the service I do. A real Uber service”, said Chita Indjai to Lusa, in the middle of a race in which he went to pick up two children from schools in Bissau.

Today, the owner of the only “Uber service” in Bissau told Lusa that the work, which started as a joke and without charging, is profitable and that he intends to continue.
