LG-Gpay-payment

The recent presentation in the US Trademark and Patent Office, reveals that LG Electronics is working on a product called GPay. The service can be used on phones, tablets and handheld devices. Most likely, it will use an NFC system, similar to the system Apple has implemented.

Payments via mobile devices have been speculated for years, and are only now gaining popularity. In the grand scenario, the credits of this feat are due to Apple who was able to implement the Apple Pay showing the world that transactions of this type can be made safely and quickly.

Apple is not the first nor the only one with this kind of platform. South Korean Samsung has made an investment to promote the Samsung Pay platform, and Google recently launched Android Pay after a long time of work, a solution that could further increase the popularization of these services. With this trend for manufacturers to develop their own mobile payment methods, merchants may feel more encouraged to adopt terminals that accept this method of payment.

LG expects to reach a larger number of users the faster, before Google floods the market with the Android Pay.

In Angola, we have not yet seen a store that accepts any of these payments, but if the technology becomes popular, surely sooner or later we will fall into the wave of “globalization” of payment with mobile systems.
