Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Google started making the update available Android 6.0 Marshmallow, for your Nexus gadgets, thus demonstrating some interesting modifications.

At the Google event, when the new Nexus was introduced, the company promised that it would not last long until the final version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow was released. We can see that Google has kept its word, since the Nexus devices have already started to receive the update of the new operating system.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow did not bring as much news as was the case with the Android 5.0 Lollipop. It gives great support to the new technologies, improved some basic processes and included the Android Pay (payment system that Google announced a long time ago).

With a step forward the Nexus series devices will be the first to receive the update. Specifically the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus Player models. Android One program phones will not be ignored. For a complete list of devices that will be updated, you can access this article.

Change in permissions system

App_Applications_Change in the permissions system

Android since its remote times has always suffered criticism from its permission system. As if we wanted to install an app, we were forced to give a series of permissions that were not necessary for installing the respective app. An example, a simple app like a flashlight asked for access to our location, nothing to do, or even an e-reader app that asked for access to contacts. But after Android 6.0 was introduced, things changed a bit.

Now the choice is free, the user can give access to the applications he wants. Well, we must take into account that some applications will need some permissions to be able to work correctly. In the case of WhatsApp, if you want to have the best operating experience, we must give permission to access our contacts, as well as the photos and microphone. In the case of Facebook, we must allow using our location, when we are going to check-in, etc.

Android Pay

Google has implemented its payments system which will now be installed on all Android phones. Google will likely offer several tools that allow applications such as online banking to access their online payment services. In the fight with its rivals Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, the great advantage that Google has is that Android is the system with the highest popularity.

A high level of security

A high level of security

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be the first system to support fingerprint sensors. But how so? Calm down, so far all smartphones running Android and benefiting from the fingerprint system have been developed separately by the phone manufacturers themselves. One of the big reasons we can see, why the sensor works best on some phones and not others. With this implementation a greater benefit to developers, who can now develop applications to be protected with the fingerprint sensor.

Support for USB Type C

The first Google phones equipped with USB type C support are the Nexus 5C and Nexus 6P. So Android 6.0 Marshmallow is the first to come with support for this technology implemented by a large number of companies. The USB Type-C cable comes with two identical reversible heads and allows you to charge your phone faster and data transfer is also very fast, compatible with the USB 3.1 standard.

More information, we'll look at user feedback after we've had a large number of phones when they upgrade. See more details on Android 6.0 news .
