Microsoft to be NBA 'Official Artificial Intelligence Partner'

A Microsoft and the NBA are teaming up to offer personalized broadcasts of games that use machine learning and AI to learn fan preferences. To start, they broadcast games live and on demand via Microsoft Azure and add custom overlays of real-time statistics. New ways to share clips from historical video files will also be explored, reward viewers for participation and reach fans of your favorite teams without them searching through all the scores, headlines and highlights.

The multi-annual agreement will begin in the 2020-21 season and will include the NBA League Pass , which offers off-market games, replays games and a library of classic games. The new platform will effectively become an enhanced version of the NBA app. It may also include new game elements and rewards, which can be used for discounts on merchandise, tickets or exclusive content.

Microsoft will also become the “Official Artificial Intelligence Partner” of WNBA, NBA G League and USA Basketball. It will be an associate partner for future events, including NBA All-Star, MGM Resorts NBA Summer League and WNBA All-Star.
