The Brazilian government said there was a second cyberattack on the Ministry of Health, after the action of hackers last Friday.

"Fhi something minor and we are working to recover as soon as possible. That is the objective, we are working hard here so that everything is reestablished”, declared, on Monday, Marcelo Queiroga, according to the local press.

“These are two different things. That first attack was not an attack on the Ministry of Health, it was at the level of Embratel [a telecommunications and data network company in Brazil] and, fortunately, the data was not compromised”, he added.

The new attack took place between late Sunday and Monday.

Before the minister's statements, the Health Department indicated, in a statement, that the DATASUS [Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System] website was carrying out “preventive maintenance on the internal network”.

Shortly after Queiroga's confirmation, the Institutional Security Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil announced, in a statement, the occurrence of "cyber incidents against government bodies" last Friday and that the executive is acting "in a coordinated manner". to resume services, which are being reactivated as treatment takes place”.

The first attack took place in the early hours of Friday and was directed at the website of the Brazilian Ministry of Health and the application that contains all the data on vaccination against covid-19 in the country, leading to the suspension of the platforms.

The invasion of the system compromised the notification system of the National Immunization Program and the technical characteristics that prevent the issuance of the Brazilian National Vaccination Certificate against covid-19, among other data, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Health.

The attack was carried out by the “Grupo Lapsus”, which claimed responsibility for the crime with a message published online, reported several local media.

With the damage caused by the attack by hackers, millions of Brazilians were unable to obtain the digital certificate of vaccination against covid-19, necessary to gain access to public places in much of the country and also to travel abroad.
