The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MTTICS), Manuel Man, indicated, on Thursday (24), the need to implement a digital literacy program to face the sharp growth of cybercrime.

Available data indicate that the country registers, on a monthly average, a minimum thousand cyber offensess, with emphasis on the cloning of credit cards, illicit transfers via internet banking, simulated sale of products via the internet, espionage and incitement to violence.

Transgressions include illegitimate access to programs, computer sabotage and falsehood, computer system failure, cyber threats, computer fraud and spyware. The banking sector accounts for 6,9% of attacks, while mobile phones supported 34,9 percent, due to non-observance of security measures by users.

The data also show that Angola is the second country with the most cyber attacks on the African continent, from a list led by Nigeria.

According to the minister, who was speaking at the opening of the webinar on computer crimes in light of the new Penal Code, there is also a need for defamation, through new technologies, to be considered an illegal act in order to regulate the use of new technologies. technologies.

“The government bets on the continuous creation of technical conditions that allow the country to be increasingly prepared to face digital challenges and bring guarantees and confidence to citizens and companies”, he reinforced.

Manuel Homem added that information technologies in Angola have grown, taking into account the government's commitment in recent years.

The minister informed that the country has more than six million Internet users.

“Of course, today, with the Executive's investment in new technologies, there is a broadening of the base so that citizens have more and more access and that new habits are created that provide behaviors, which are often inappropriate.

In his view, it is necessary to create and regulate a guiding paradigm for peaceful and constructive coexistence in the use of new technologies.
