New iPhone will have foldable screen capable of protecting itself from falls

A new patent shared by Business Insider website points to a feature that may be present on Apple's first foldable screen iPhone and which, if confirmed, could help extend the device's longevity.

The patent in question, submitted on March 16, indicates that the iPhone in question will be able to close automatically if it detects a fall – effectively protecting the flexible screen from any more serious damage. Allegedly, this iPhone will include a drop sensor (known as an accelerometer) capable of detecting situations of this type.

BUT: Apple will increase the price of iPhones

Naturally, if the iPhone is too close to the ground or a surface, the device might not be fast enough to close. Also note that this feature indicates that the iPhone will have a 'shell' design, similar to what we see today with Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 4 or Motorola's Razr.

However, it is worth remembering that Apple has not yet officially announced that it is working on a foldable version of the iPhone, so at the moment we only have rumors about it.
