rubik's cube

Rubik's Cube, or Magic Cube, you have certainly heard that expression. It was with this “toy” that another milestone was reached for the era of artificial intelligence. A robot broke the human record for the fastest resolution of a “Magic cube“(Or Rubik's cube) by 400%, that is, the robot (homemade) took 1.019 seconds, compared to the human record of 4,904 seconds.

The Robot was created by software engineers Jay Flatland and Paul Rose, it solved the puzzle in 1.196 seconds, 1.152 seconds, 1.047 seconds and, finally, 1.019 seconds.

How does it work?

The robot is made of stepper motors in 3D printed frames that are drilled directly into the hub itself. The engines are controlled by an Arduino, which gives the device an impressive speed.

The robot "sees" the Cube using 4 webcams connected to a Linux computer, where an algorithm calculates the fastest way to solve the puzzle.

The current human record belongs to the young American 14 years, Lucas Etter who set the record in November 2015, solving the Rubik's cube in 4,904 seconds, which was a totally incredible value.

Do you think you can solve this puzzle faster?
