Angola will count in the near future with passports state-of-the-art biometrics, resulting from a financing agreement between the Ministry of Finance (MINFIN) and ANY Security Printing Company, valued at more than 139 million dollars.
As revealed, the agreement between the two institutions was concluded between MINFIN and the Hungarian bank EXIM, which was one of the necessary conditions for the biometric passport project to move forward.
According to the press release, ANY Security Printing Company will provide the biometric passports to the Ministry of the Interior and the Migration and Foreigners Services for a period of ten years.
BUT: Electronic Passport among the Executive's priorities for this year
The Angolan executive is expected to build several biometric enrollment stations around the country, as well as design and produce the passport booklets and a local personalization facility, in addition to other related services.
Currently, ANY Security Printing Company already has 15% of the funds, with the remaining 85% of the funds being paid in installments as different phases of the project are completed.
