A National Police will implement monitoring and alarm technologies in the taxi service vehicles of the capital city, in order to reduce and prevent the crimes that have been registered.

An Integrated Public Security Center (CISP), which will bring solutions for prevention and where new technologies will be installed, has been under construction since 2017. It provides for the availability of an alarm service and closed-circuit video surveillance, which will be presented to public service operators and taxi drivers' associations for greater security of their vehicles.

In order to deal with this new criminal reality that makes it difficult to trace its movements, identify its members and obtain evidence, technology presents itself as one of the necessary instruments and facilitators for police investigative action.

The chief inspector Lázaro da Conceição, who spoke to the press, at the meeting with officials from public and private transport companies, from taxi drivers and motorcycle taxi associations, said that technological solutions will be applied to somehow guarantee the protection of taxi vehicles.

Lázaro da Conceição said that it will be possible for all taxi drivers to voluntarily join the video surveillance services, but for those who do not opt, other measures will be applied.

The CISP is being built in an area of about 8,000 square meters and is an integrated operations management and incident response system, which will gather data from the different departments of the Ministry of Interior.
