A Internet continues to be one of the main sales vehicles for many companies, but at the same time it is also necessary to be careful with the payments that are made by the same, since not all of them are considered safe.

According to the latest platform data Complaint Portal, between January and April of this year, the number of online scams increased by around 22% compared to the same period in 2021.

A new trend that has been on the rise is found in the creation of fake stores selling products such as clothing and electronics, imitating recognized brands in the market, but creating their fake versions.

These sites tend to maintain the style of the entities' real sites, even with the same products and means of payment. However, data that is entered into them is often stolen for other purposes or fraudulent payments are made with them.

Brands like aa Tiffosi, Lefties and Wizink are among the most used for this type of scams on the Internet. In the case of Wizink, the most common means of attack is phishing, where emails are sent containing false information and redirecting users to malicious sites where personal and sensitive information is stolen from them.

As always, the first line of defense comes from the users themselves, who should always be extremely careful about where they shop online. Evaluate whether the platform where they are located is legitimate, even if it appears to be from a recognized brand.

Whenever possible, you should also avoid accessing links sent from strangers in emails and direct messages on platforms such as WhatsApp, Messenger or directly via SMS.
