Spotify tests Tiktok-style video wall

O Spotify is testing a new feature, in the most recent beta version of the iOS TestFlight program, called Discover – which allows the user to browse through a feed with video clips of songs while they are played, being able to like them or pass them along as on the network Social TikTok.

The goal is for users to find new music quickly and intuitively while navigating up and down the video wall. You can 'like' the song by tapping the heart-shaped icon or clicking the three-dot menu to view the default song information that Spotify provides.

Chris Messina, responsible for discovering the application's new functionality, shared on his personal account on the social network Twitter that the system appears as a fourth icon on the Spotify toolbar on iOS devices. According to Messina, the tool can use the platform's Canvas format, allowing artists to create various types of videos to accompany songs that sometimes even replace album covers. By default, this feature increases the number of shares, the number of times the song is added to playlists and the number of times the artist's profile is visited.

Spotify confirmed, in a statement to the North American publication, that the test is being carried out on the functionality so that it is possible to “improve the user experience”, and said that it is some of these types of tests that are responsible for “paving the way for a broader user experience”.

BUT: Spotify now provides lyrics for songs

Other tools like Instagram Reels and Youtube Shorts already resemble TikTok, and even Netflix recently introduced a comedy feed identical to the TikTok feed called Fast Laughs.
