Do not go encouraging yourself to think that the Almighty Elon Musk decided to finally make a visit to the country of the Giant Black Palanca. However, the solution presented yesterday (28 / 10) in Los Angeles may be a perfect solution to the problems of electricity in Angola.

Tesla

Tesla CEO Elon Musk displayed solar panels for roofs and a residential high-capacity battery bank named as PowerWall 2. Companies will be able to opt for a more powerful model, the Powerpack 2.

Tesla was giving clues that it would launch the panels of photovoltaic cells embedded in the roof a few weeks ago, but only at the event everything was revealed. Elon Musk thus justifies why he needs to join his two companies "Tesla and Solar City". If the merger of the two companies does not materialize, the production / launch plans for these new systems will be at risk.

Some details of these new solar panels

During the presentation, Tesla's CEO revealed that the cost of installing the panels pays off, compared to installing common roofs and paying the monthly electricity consumption.

However, prices were not revealed for the panels, but there were concrete prices announced noting that it is difficult to put a price on what it will cost for each house. Of course a price per square foot would have been helpful. The company will sell the parts directly to customers instead of working with the home builders.

When will they be available?

According to Musk, the panels will begin to be installed in the summer 2017 and insisted that the roofs will have an above average durability.

“We hope that this will have two or three times the longevity of asphalt. This will never really wear out. This has an almost infinite life cycle. It is made of quartz ”

Unfortunately Tesla does not have a representation in Angola, however, a country close enough has everything to be a bastion of the Tesla in Africa.

More technical characteristics

O Powerwall 2 it will come equipped with two 14 kWh batteries with the capacity to power a four-bedroom house with lights, a glacier and other appliances for a whole day, according to company accounts. The price of PowerWall will be around USD 5500 (about 1.055.230 according to the exchange rate of commercial banking).

Another interesting detail is the design. Tesla bet on the design of solar panels similar to the tiles used on the most common roofs. This will allow end users to purchase only the number of panels they need and can fill the rest of the ceiling with standard tiles.
