The mobile operator Unitel decided to increase, as of the month of October, by 50% the share of the revenue of its “Toques de Espera” service with Content Providers (Content Providers) and national artists.

According to a statement from the operator, to which MenosFios had access, the measure is a recognition of the importance of the national artistic class for the development of our society, as well as to be a support for the difficult phase we are going through due to Covid-19 .

To serve as an example, previously national artists who received 100.000 kwanzas monthly with their songs in “Toques de Espera, with the new increase will now receive 150.000 kwanzas.

BUT: Unitel already prepares infrastructure for the launch of the 5G service in the country

It should also be noted that the “Toques de Espera” service is a service that allows you to customize and choose music to replace the ring tone, while waiting for the cell phone service, and that the availability of national songs in this service is made by the providers of Contents that hold contracts with artists, for the management, promotion and payment of music dissemination.

The statement also states that part of the amount charged for the Unitel customer service is for the artists, which is a relevant source of revenue for them, and in the last year, due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, it was possible to verify that this was the only income of many musicians, when they were prevented from performing events.

Another of the initiatives developed by Unitel with this service is Top Mensal, in which the three fastest-growing artists on the platform are awarded each month, with a financial prize in the amount of 800.000 kwanzas. This award is communicated on Unitel's social networks and to the Content Providers representing the artists on the platform.

The “Toques de Espera da Unitel” service has existed for 11 years and currently has more than 4 million active users.

"With this service, Unitel wants to continue to contribute to the development and consolidation of national culture, in particular music”, reads the note.
