WhatsApp opens its cloud API to companies

O WhatsApp I opened its API for access by companies of any size and now offers all the necessary infrastructure to use it for free in the cloud. The news is so important that it was announced by Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, at the opening of the online event Conversations, organized by the company, this Thursday, 19.

The acronym API derives from the English expression Application Programming Interface which, translated into Portuguese, can be understood as an application programming interface. In other words, API is a set of standards that enables communication between platforms through a series of standards and protocols.

"I'm excited to announce that we're opening up WhatsApp to any business, any size, around the world with the WhatsApp Cloud API”, said Zuckerberg. "QAny company or developer can easily access our service, operate directly on WhatsApp to customize their experience and speed up response time to customers using our secure WhatsApp Cloud API hosted by Meta”, he added.

BUT: WhatsApp doubles the capacity of members in groups (512) and increases file size

Meta will provide not only the hosting, but also the maintenance and all the processing capacity for companies that use its API in the cloud. This will allow faster access to new features that are launched by WhatsApp, and will also increase the traffic of messages sent by brands to their consumers. It is worth noting that there is still a charge for initiating any conversation between brands and consumers via the WhatsApp Business API.

Meta informs that 1 billion users in the world talk to brands weekly through the group's applications (WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger). And research commissioned by the company shows that seven out of 10 people trust companies they can chat with via messages more. The same survey indicates that 65% of consumers prefer to communicate via messages rather than email or phone.
