Angola currently has a new computer system against cyber attacks in the country, called “Shields2Africa” and which was proposed by the Angola Cables.

According to the company's product coordinator, Crisóstomo Mbundu, with this system Angola now has the capacity to prevent future cyber attacks, to the point of making it the second highest index in Africa and the fourth in the world.

"Angola has three subsea telecommunication systems, two of which, SACS and WACS, under the responsibility of Angola Cables, and another managed by Angola Telecom. The project will work as an automatic shield, capable of detecting, reporting and mitigating cyber attacks on a global scale in real time, with support for artificial intelligence, which will allow it to reach as much as possible from the source of origin”, informed the manager.

According to the product coordinator at Angola Cables, the sectors that most suffer cyber attacks in the country are Education, Finance and streaming, that is, digital distribution. However, he clarified, the frequency of attacks varies depending on the content available, in particular those associated with the Internet, such as websites and some databases, with digital information.

"Given the vulnerability that several institutions are subject to distributed denial of service attacks (DDOS) we decided to opt for this solution", said.

It was also revealed that “Shields2Africa”, with level seven cybersecurity, has allowed Angola Cables to study the nature of many of the attacks.

"The objective is to mitigate and detect in real time the volume of data that is being inserted in a given infrastructure in the country”, underlined Mbundu.

In order to better combat such attacks, he added, the company is working with Clauds and Check Point, partners that help them to identify the invaders and, at the same time, investigate them, globally.

"We are getting positive results and also connecting the country to the world, but with greater protection, like this project designed to analyze cyber attacks in real time”, Finished.
