Angola wins digital archive for culture and art

2050

The cultural digital collection called e-Zomba was presented this week, a technological project that will allow global access and dissemination of Angola's cultural and artistic heritage on digital platforms and website.

According to Analtino Santos, one of those responsible for the project and speaking exclusively to the editorial staff of MenosFios, said that e-Zomba “is a digital repository where we will find a large part of the Angolan cultural heritage, from music, visual arts, cinema“, all of this on a “digital platform” that will give recognition to the artists of the past and will open up a world of opportunity for new talents.

The e-Zomba will consist of “on various webpages on the Internet and various hyperlinks” so that several people have access, explains Analtino, reiterating that the objective is to make the “people know more about Angolan cultural production".

The chairman of the Mitrelli Group, Haim Taib, who was also present at the launch of the platform, says that e-Zomba will make the extremely rich Angolan culture available at national and international level, through digitization and the use of new technologies.

He stressed that he has always believed that arts and culture are important engines for economic growth, as well as infrastructure and construction, education and job creation.

"I will turn to the Hebrew poet Shaul Tshernichovsky, who I like very much, he said that each of us is shaped by the landscape of our homeland, by the culture, history, heritage and its artistic representation. Arts, culture and heritage are the foundation of nation building, and that foundation can one day be rebuilt.".

From what our newsroom has revealed, the e-Zomba digital cultural collection also comes to adapt today's Angolan civil society to technology and expose Angolan culture to the whole world, thus creating interest in culture and, above all, making cultures remote and new accessible to the general public.
