Angola present at the Youth Summit on a digital future

From the 02nd to the 4th of June, Angola was present at the youth summit -  “Shaping a safe, inclusive, digital future together – not leaving young people behind” – an event promoted by the ITU, as part of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC).

The event, which took place both online and in person, in Kigali, Rwanda, is part of the 1st Generation Connect Global Youth Summit, where our country was represented with two techniques from the National Institute of Communications (INACOM) and a technique of National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN).

During the event, the Angolan delegation had the opportunity to participate in various networking sessions, as well as attend a session on intergenerational dialogue under the theme “Becoming a young change facilitator”, with contributions from Precious Agaecheta, associate for the African Union Youth Engagement, Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Director, ITU Development Bureau, Paula Ingabire, Minister of Telecommunications and Innovation of Rwanda, Santiago Reyes-Borda, Senior Adviser for Telecommunications and Internet Policy, Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and Emma Inamutila, Deputy Minister of Communications, Technology and Information of Namibia.

In the two days of the Youth Summit, it addressed a wide range of subjects, such as cybersecurity, connectivity, creation of opportunities and digital literacy, in order to bring together young people and change agents and leaders of the technology sector in a conversation on how to guarantee that all young people, wherever they are, can be connected and able to play an active role in making decisions that shape the future, as well as young people can be involved in formulating policies to reduce digital inequalities.

The event also engaged in various issues, such as: decision-making processes and policy formulation; from digital inequality to sustainability, youth representation and digital accessibility;

Empower young people with resources and skills for the digital future: from bridging the gender divide to entrepreneurship, mentoring and the future of work;

Protecting young people through the responsible use of digital technologies: from technology's role in mitigating climate change to online safety, cybersecurity and good mental health in the digital age.

To inform you that the Youth Summit aims to engage young people in the big issues of digital transformation, encourage young people to participate as partners with today's leaders of digital change and empower young people with skills and opportunities to build a connected, secure and safe future. inclusive.
