INACOM confirms that there are already 7,2 million Internet subscribers in Angola

Angola reached, by the third quarter of 2021, a total of 7,2 million internet subscribers, including companies and individuals, according to data from the National Institute of Communications (INACOM), for the reference period.

From the beginning of the year to the end of the third quarter, in nine months, more than 313 thousand subscribers subscribed to the Internet service, a growth of 4,3% for the period. All subscription types are aggregated in these numbers.

In terms of internet subscription quotas per operator to be Unitel it is positioned at the forefront with 87% of subscribers, over 6,2 million. THE Movicel holds 11% of these subscribers and TV Cabo and Zap share the remaining 2%. The Angolan operator Telecom does not enter these accounts, according to INACOM data.

In practice, the operators that operate on the cellular mobile network, namely Unitel and Movicel, absorb 98% of subscribers, due to the fact that there are more and more internet users on mobile phones because it is simpler, despite the fact that there are other forms of subscription in these operators.

At this point, the market is waiting for the fourth mobile operator, Africell, in a market with two in mobile telephony and almost two in internet subscription. As well as waiting for the operationalization of the 5G network whose licenses have already been assigned to Unitel, Movicel and Africell.
