Angola will host the headquarters of the UN Information Center for Portuguese Speaking African Countries (PALOP), with a view to meeting the needs of the said institution.

According to Melissa Fleming, UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, speaking at the end of a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, the UN Information Center will be installed in the country in the first half of January 2023.

The UN Information Center will be a reference in the PALOP and will offer up-to-date information on political, economic, social and humanitarian issues, as well as holding seminars and discussion forums with the aim of raising public awareness for greater participation.

It should be noted that the Information Centers are linked to the United Nations Department of Global Communication and are the active link between the media, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations and the UN.

Currently, the world has a total of 59 Information Centers of the United Nations, installed in several countries, distributed in 139 languages.
