Angola Cables celebrated this great feat yesterday 27 2018, at the Hotel Palmeiras, after having advanced the official date of the operation of the submarine cable SACS. NEC Corporation, manufacturer and company that installed SACS, formally delivered the contract, thus considering the completion of the first submarine cable system connecting Africa and America, crossing the Southern Hemisphere.
Second António Nunes (CEO of Angola Cables), the country's Internet traffic is currently being handled by SACS, due to the court registered in WACS, very recently. "This happened at a time when the SACS was still undergoing tests but, as we verified that everything was within the parameters, and the urgency we had, we had to transfer all traffic to this system". That is why, as you know, “in good time we had completed the SACS within the defined deadline and budget, otherwise we would be facing a major problem”.
O SACS will make communications with America, the leading center for the production and storage of content, products and services, five times faster and decreasing dependence on WACS, which connects 11 African countries and three Europeans. With this route, the dependence on Europe significantly diminishes, because communications from Angola and the rest of the region fail to cross Europe to reach America, since the connection is now direct, going from 360 to 63 thousandths of a second.
