The project Connect Angola foresees the installation of at least two points in each province in remote areas and making internet service available to more than 30 thousand citizens, according to the deputy director for the Technical and Scientific Area of the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), Vangiliya Pereira.

The person responsible informed that eight kits from the Conecta Angola project have already been installed in Belo Horizonte (Bié), Canzar (Lunda-Norte), Sombo (Lunda-Sul), ITEL (Luanda), Jamba Cueio and Dirico (Cuando Cubango), which serve around 20.000 citizens.

The aim is, in this way, to take the initiative to remote areas of Angola, through the use of Angosat-2, a communications satellite that plays a crucial role in the country's development and progress, promoting comprehensive communications, digital connectivity, expanding access to information, technological autonomy and others.

Vangiliya Pereira highlighted the advantages of Angosat-2, from a cost and benefit point of view, associated with Conecta Angola, considering it possible to bring internet service to the mentioned points, connecting users to the world.

BUT: Conecta Angola will reach several provinces in the coming months

The objective, according to GGPEN, is to bring free internet to remote areas, where there has never been communication with conventional operators, helping to reduce digital exclusion, promote socioeconomic development and improve the quality of life of the populations in those regions.

There is also a gender disparity in access to Information and Communication Technologies, especially in the most remote areas of the country. With Conecta Angola, according to the authorities, it will be possible, with the support of schools, communities and local administrations, to reduce the gap, as free internet will be available to everyone.

The data indicates that there will also be a need to create synergies with public, private and other companies to support these locations by providing telephones and computers, so that they can, in fact, benefit from the access that Conecta Angola provides.

The internet service is free to access without any fee being charged to the user. In this regard, Conecta Angola promotes the digital inclusion of communities and reduces the gap in access to Information and Communication Technologies between inhabitants of urban areas and those in remote areas.
