Company Launches World's Largest SSD with 100 TB of Space

In the past month, Samsung had the largest SSD on the market with 30 TB of space, but it seems that this is already behind, since now has emerged a company with an SSD that holds a twice the amount of space.

Nimbus Data revealed the ExaDrive DC100, which has 100 TB of 3D flash memory in an 3,5-inch SATA standard. For context, there are about 20 millions of songs (if each has 5 MB) on a device small enough to fit on your home computer.

Unfortunately this SSD is intended for servers where capacity takes priority over everything else, including performance (throughput around 500 MB / sec). A data center can store 100 petabytes of data in a single rack instead of needing large extensions of server room space. This is useful for cloud services, AI, and other technologies that may require large amounts of data.

So what about the cost of this giant in storage?

Unfortunately we will only know when DC100 comes out in the summer, sure to have prices comparable to other commercial grade SSDs, this probably means a price in the tens of thousands of dollars. To get an idea, the SSD PM1633a de 15.36TB costs around 11.600,00 USD.

Would you like to have one of these?
