O Angolan Institute of Communications (INACOM) did not approve the launch of Starlink services in Angola for the second quarter of this year, with a view to expanding the company in the African market and materializing the mission of providing Internet access to remote and needy areas around the world.

According to what counts the Expansion newspaper, the service was scheduled for the second quarter of this year, but INACOM did not approve. Now, the Starlink is finally given in Angola until the end of the year. SpaceX announced that it will start operating in the country in the fourth quarter of 2023, where with an internet of up to 220 MB/s it can leverage a new reality for the sector's businesses.

For all those interested, Starlink is already accepting Angolan pre-registration for the service, at a cost of 7.440 kwanzas (US$9).

Despite being a satellite internet service, the company ensures that the more than 4.700 SpaceX satellites in orbit and that are “much closer to the earth” manage to provide a latency of 25 to 50 milliseconds, among the lowest from the market.

Starlink's maximum connection reaches 250 Mbps downlond and reaches a maximum upload speed of 25 Mbps, anywhere in the world, offered in the most sophisticated packages.

The high speed and low latency make the internet service via SpaceX better than competitors in the satellite segment, making it also among the most expensive, being accessible to more wealthy economic classes, even if the company's objective is to based on the provision of low cost internet service.

In practical terms, the signal is captured by a Vsat from the company, which is installed on the roof or in an open area to capture the signal and a Starlink Wi-Fi router that receives and distributes the signal to users.

Starlink, which inaugurated its service in Africa in February in Nigeria, offers residential, commercial, travel, maritime and aviation internet packages.
