The Unitel Apps Competition is back and now in its third edition. After last year's event with face-to-face coverage of the MenosFios team, the competition for Angolan developers will be open to participants in a few days.
The UNITEL APPS Angola Competition is a competition that aims to identify the best apps and developers in the country, as well as to empower the Digital Ecosystem of Angola.
For the Unitel Apps Angola 2018 Contest we will have the following:
- Categories
- Startup's Apps
- Games;
- Free theme;
- Social Responsibility (Education and Health).
- Participants: Open to all developers in Angola and Angolans living in the Diaspora
- Constitution of the teams: To 5 members
- Stages:
- Submission of projects: Send project to email address [email protected]
- Screening: The best projects will be selected for later face-to-face presentation
This year the competition will not only bet on the capital, but will include more provinces
An antechamber will be carried out in each province where the selected projects will be presented at the screening stage. During this stage the 12 finalists projects will be selected in the total of all provinces (3 Start Up's, 3 General Theme, 3 Social Responsibility, and 3 Games)
- Huíla;
- Benguela;
- Huambo;
- Cabinda.
Presentation: The projects will be presented to a panel of judges consisting of notables of UNITEL. In this event will be chosen the winning project of each category.
- Incubation: The winning projects will be incubated during 2 months by the UNITEL Innovation team in order to be launched to the market.
- Submission Requirements
- It is allowed to use any development program;
- Must be developed at least one Android version (other operating systems are also allowed);
- Mandatory explanatory video of size smaller than 16 MB and up to 2 minutes long, where it is demonstrated the operation of the application / game;
- Mandatory document with functional description (Power-point or PDF) based on the template available on the site.

- Who can be disqualified?
- Projects submitted only with a descriptive document, without visual presentation of the functional prototype, will be disqualified;
- Projects must be exclusively developed by team members. If intellectual property violations are discovered in its design or management, automatically, the team will be disqualified (at any stage);
- Intellectual Property
- UNITEL shall have the right of first refusal on all projects submitted
- Awards
- Mentoring during 3 months - Business model (How to create and capture value), communication plan, financial plan, technological tuning;
- Telecommunications - Zero intra-account calls to the numbers of team members and Net Casa for 1 year;
- Monetary prize - 500 thousand kwanzas;
- Possibility to make the Pitch to the General Direction of UNITEL.
