Mozambique has joined the African digital platform, which will allow the country to verify the authenticity of the results of PCR tests for the new coronavirus carried out throughout the territory, revealed the Ministry of Health.

"This platform aims to ensure the safety and quality of SARS-CoV-2 test reports on our continent.”, revealed the Mozambican health minister, Armindo Tiago, during the launch of the “Trusted Travel” platform in the country's capital, Maputo, last Thursday, in Maputo.

According to the official, the platform will contribute to the fight against falsification of cards and tests and provide information on the history of vaccination and tests carried out, and which was developed by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the African Union (Africa CDC ).

"This platform not only facilitates movement and trade on our continent, but also securely connects us to Africa and the world”, added Armindo Tiago.

With the adhesion of Mozambique to the “Trusted Travel” platform, the number of African countries that use the platform rises to 14, which is a technological service of the African governments, and where, since it was launched, in October, it provides travelers in Africa with information about the requirements they will have to face to travel to different countries on the continent, in addition to offering links to laboratories where travelers can obtain the results of tests for covid-19.

As of the publication of this article, the Mozambican health authorities reported that more than 8,4 million people have already been immunized with at least one dose of the vaccine against the new coronavirus in the country, of which 5,8% are fully vaccinated. According to the country's strategy, the Mozambican government hopes to vaccinate 17 million people by the end of 2022.
